Bath Bombs vs Bath Salts

We're often asked by customers what's the difference between our bath salts and our bath bombs. On the surface, bath bombs appear to be better bang-for-your-buck, coming in at a lower price than the bath salts on a per/kg basis. However, to understand why, it pays to look under the hood. Below we've outlined what makes up the core ingredients of each, and which one may be best for you.

Bath bombs

Bath bombs are a very popular bath additive that fizz and float about, turning an ordinary activity into something fun, relaxing, and filled with divine scents. The moment you add one of our amazing bath bombs to your bath, it begins to effervesce and release vibrant colors and and give off pleasant aromas. This results in a very inviting and luxurious bath that provides a treat for the senses as well as the body, and creates a welcoming atmosphere encouraging relaxation and indulgence.

Often, bath bombs are held to a reputation that they aren't nourishing for the body. Filled with cheap synthetics, some bath bombs on the market can be drying and release harmful particles into the environment like plastic from glitters used. While appealing to look at, these products are not benefiting your body and can be bad for your skin. Our premium bath bombs contain an assortment of nourishing skin moisturizing butters and oils that help to hydrate and moisturize your skin while you bathe. For example, our Cocoa Butter Bath Bomb is packed to the brim with hydrating butters that you'll be able to see as it dissolves in your bath. So while you’re chilling out in the tub, your skin is also enjoying some serious hydration that will leave it soft and smooth for days.

However, while enjoyable, a large component of the bath bomb is making it fizz for a foamy bath. While fun and appealing, this component of the bath is not as nourishing or filled with the same amount of skin-enhancing nutrients as the bath salts. So, to a certain extent bath bombs are a one-hit wonder and are only offer you a good time for a single bath.

Bath salts

Our infused bath salts are made primarily from magnesium sulfate, Himalayan rock salts, and natural sea salt. These three ingredients are jammed packed with nutrients that nourish your skin while you bathe, and react with the body to ease aches and pain. This has the effect of leaving your body feeling silky smooth, but also relaxed and relieved on tension. Bath salts also assist in reducing blood pressure, and the infused scents can go a long way to relieving anxiety. One thing that sets our bath salts apart from the rest of the pack is that we go beyond just scenting our salts. We add other properties that ensure the bath is packed with butters and oils, as well as soaping agents that help give you a little extra clean as you go about your daily bath.

Improving your magnesium levels can boost neurotransmitters that are responsible for helping you sleep and reduce overall stress. People feeling stressed and overwhelmed may benefit from taking our bath salts as they promote relaxation and may help you achieve calm. This is especially true for our Muscle Soak Bath Salts, which are infused with essentials oils such as eucalyptus, peppermint and menthol and bring a sense of calm to both your body and your mind. Himalayan pink salt is known as a powerful detoxifier that helps extract nasty toxins from your skin and muscles. The Himalayan pink salt penetrates your skin, leaving you with a strong sense of refreshment and nourishment. Soaking in a salt bath can often feel like recharging your batteries. Salt baths also promote skin hydration, leaving it softer and smoother, and the salt plumps up your skin that prevents it from becoming dry.

While bath bombs are one hit wonders, our jars of bath salts will give you multiple soaks without compromising on the scent or nourishment. The intensity of the bath is within your control. If you are feeling particularly tense, you can increase the amount of salts added to your bath to give it some extra bang. Ultimately, bath salts are like a concentrate that you can dial up or down according to preference.

So, whether you should opt for a bath bomb or a bath salt comes largely down to what you are looking for in your bath. If you are wanting a fun experience with lots of foam and colour, a bath bomb would be your best friend. If you are looking for something that adds muscle easing properties on a more regular basis, then you can't walk past our range of infused bath salts. Either way, we have something you'll love to add to your bath!
